Achievement: 17 May, 1962: Shirley founded a predominantly women software development program in the 60s, changed her name to "Steve" in hopes of receiving replies back from her marketing emails.


Other: Stephanie Shirley escaped from the Nazis as a young child. She founded her own software development company, and when her emails were ignored, her husband suggested using the family name of "Steve" in her emails. After adopting this practice, she suddenly began to get replies. Additionally, her company employed mostly women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and gave women more opportunities.
